| Availability Allowed to have natural breeding cycles, all ferret kits are born in the spring and summer of each year. Ferrets...Naturally kits will usually be available spring through summer or early fall, since our ferrets are kept in a way that encourages them to have as natural of breeding cycles as possible. Kits sold through pet stores are available year round because commercial breeders house their ferrets in artifical lighting. This "tricks" their bodies into thinking it is always spring and always breeding season. Dark to black sable kits will be available yearly. Champagnes, cinnamons, chocolates and albinos will be available in more limited numbers and may not be available every year. If you have a color and/or gender preference, it is a good idea to reserve your kit early. Also our Ferret Litters page is a good way to keep up to date on our breeding plans and litters. The age which kits are placed into new homes will depend on the kit's development and the new owner's ferret experience. Occasionally adolescant kits and adults may become available. These could be kits which were held back to evaluate for the breeding program, retired breeding ferrets or kits that could no longer be kept by their original owners. These ferrets may become available at any time of the year and will be listed on the Available Ferrets page. Waiting List Prospective owners can be placed on a waiting list for kits at any time. People on the waiting list will be the first to receive planned breeding information, litter announcements and kit availability updates. You must be an approved home prior to being added to the waiting list. If you are interested in being added to the waiting list email us to start the process. At three weeks of age, deposits are required to reserve your kit. Deposits are required even if you are on our waiting list. You must be an approved home before a reservation is accepted. Delivery or Shipping Shipping is available to approved homes for kits 12 weeks of age or older. The cost of shipping is generally $200 - $300 in addition to the ferret's purchase price. Alternatively, delivery may be available. Cost for delivery will vary depending on your location and is available on a limited basis only. |
| Approved Home? As you read the information on obtaining a kit or adult ferret, you will see repeated mention of being an "approved home". This simply means that you have contacted us and through screening (answering questions, providing references) we feel comfortable placing a kit in your home.
