Ferret Litters: Past, Present & Planned
1. Are your kits spayed and neutered prior to placement?
It is not in the ferret's best interest to be altered prior to maturity. Early altering is considered to be a main trigger of adrenal disease and it also poorly affects the ferret's physical developement. Altering should not be done prior to 6 months for jills and 10 months for hobs and will be at the owner's expense.

2. Are they descented?
Descenting ferrets is an unneeded procedure made popular in the US by commercial ferret breeders. Descenting makes ferrets more marketable at pet stores because it (falsely) eases potential owner's fears that "ferrets stink". There is also a misconception that ferrets spray like skunks. Ferrets have a natural musky smell to them, which is totally unaffected by descenting. Ferrets also do not have a spray like skunks do. Ferrets do have anal glands but so do dogs and cats. Like dogs, ferrets will release their anal glands when startled or upset. Unlike dogs, the odor from a ferret's anal glands quickly dissipates and does not stick to surfaces.

3. Are the kits vaccinated?

Ferrets...Naturally does not vaccinate breeding ferrets or kits. The choice to vaccainate or not can be a difficult one and we feel each owner should weigh the pros and cons for their pets. Potential owners are urged to reserach the vaccination topic to decide what is best for them and their animals.

4. What about diet?
Diet is a huge part of natural care for all pets.  Ferrets...Naturally feeds and recommends a natural diet for all ferrets. All of our ferrets are fed a diet which consists of raw meat and bone, organ meat, eggs, green tripe, fish and commercial raw food mixes. To learn more about natural ferret care:
