Temperament is a top priority in Aleron's breeding program. I like to "do stuff" with my dogs
ranging from dogsports to conformation to hiking and camping. Over the years, I have dabbled in
many other activities with the dogs including trick dog training, messenger dog work, herding,
schutzhund and even lure coursing.
This sort of "try anything" attitude results from a combination of selective breeding, socialization
and training. Aleron puppies are exposed to Early Neurological Stimulation. Research shows that
adult dogs which were exposed to ENS as puppies benefit from improved cardiovascular
performance, stronger heart beats, increased tolerance to stress and greater resistance to disease.
Aleron puppies are interacted with throughout the day and are provided daily with socialization
challenges such as strange surfaces, searching for treats, noisy toys, new people or new adventures.
Aleron puppies begin learning basic skills prior to being placed in new homes including sit, down,
walking, touch, restraint, come when called and crate training. The dogs at Aleron are first and
foremost pets. They live in our home, sleep on our couches, run errands with us and even
vacation with us. My hope is for all Aleron puppies to go to homes where they will enjoy a similar
lifestyle.

Health is equally important at Aleron. The dogs here
are cared for as holistically as possible. All of the dogs
are fed a natural raw food diet and puppies are
weaned onto raw food. While I realize not everyone is
willing or able to feed a natural diet, it seems beneficial
for puppies to be fed this way for at least their first
few weeks. Of course, there is more to holistic care
than diet. Holistic care literally means caring for the
whole being. I try to limit exposure to chemicals,
antibiotics, and immune supressing drugs as much as
possible.
Adult dogs and puppies are given ample exercise time daily, which is important for both physical
and mental well being. The best sort of exercise for dogs and puppies seems to be doing what they
would naturally - chasing, wrestling and exploring. Potential breeding dogs are screened for genetic
diseases through OFA hip and elbow xrays and CERF eye exams. Pedigrees are reserached
carefully to minimize the risk of producing genetic health issues.
Soundness and Type In addition to temperament and
health, it is important that dogs have sound, functional
structure. It is also important, when breeding purebred
dogs to preserve the breed's character and appearance.
Not all puppies will grow into show ring winners or super
performance dogs but I aim to produce beautiful, athletic
dogs that are good representives of their breed in
appearance and attitude. Written UKC show critiques are
available for all of our breeding dogs with some posted on
each dog's individual pages.
